Help build the map
Tarnoo runs entirely on open data. There are two ways to make it better: improve the map that everyone uses, or add your own routes and knowledge on Tarnoo.
Improve the map itself
The paths, trails, surfaces and highlights come from OpenStreetMap — a free map that anyone can edit. A fix there reaches every app built on OpenStreetMap, not just Tarnoo.
- A path that is wrong, missing, closed or has the wrong surface? Edit it on OpenStreetMap
- New to this? Start with the beginner guide at learnosm.org
- Changes usually reach Tarnoo within a few days, when we next refresh our data
Add to Tarnoo
- Plan and share routes — set a route to public so others can find and reuse it
- Mark highlights — a viewpoint, hut, spring, or a hazard others should know about
- Photos and tips — one photo and a sentence of local knowledge help more than a rating
- Build collections — group routes into a theme: a weekend, a region, a hut-to-hut
What makes a good contribution
- Accurate over impressive: real distances, honest difficulty, current conditions
- Respect nature and access: no shortcuts through protected areas, private land or closures
- Add what a map cannot: where to find water or shelter, when to go, where it gets tricky
- Only post what is yours to share — see the terms of use
Found a problem?
A broken route, wrong data on Tarnoo itself, or something that should not be public — email [CONTACT EMAIL]. For errors in the map data itself, OpenStreetMap is the right place to fix it.
Thank you
Every fix and every shared route makes the next person's trip a little better. That is the whole idea.
