⛰️ Peaks in Cork

Beann - a grammatical form of Binn - peak Sidheán (an tSídheáin )- (of) fairy (Sí) mound Fairy here means "na daoine maithe"/ "good people" not type with wings! Much feared and respected in Ireland, they were usually referred to indirectly in placenames.

Carraig - Rock a' - (of) the Shleáin - Sleán/(Turf Spade) This hill was supposed to look like a sleán from the South/South west. Shape has changed now due to development.

Sticín may be a form of staicín (stake/peak). This is the name of the peak on 'An Charraig Fhada' (En. 'The Long Rock'). It is said mass was said at this peak on Christmas morning during penal times.

This steep section of road was known as Leaca an Chnoic (the hill slope)

This is the highest point in Myross, Stuaicín can be interpreted as a small height or a spire. Also know as Stookeen in english

Suí - Seat Finn - Finn (mac Cumhaill) This is name of the point on top of the hill. Also spelt as Cifín.
