Schloss Leuk in Valais was built in the early 13th century and extended around the mid-13th century; it is already mentioned in 1254 as the seat of the meier (bailiff). After being damaged it was rebuilt in 1475, was privately owned after 1804, passed to the municipality in 1934, and was subsequently restored several times (1937/38, 1958, 1988-91).
