Burg Landenberg

Of the extensive Landenberg castle complex in Obwalden, remains of the encircling wall are still visible; a prehistoric settlement has been identified on the site, and the castle itself was founded by the Lenzburg family in the 11th century and abandoned around 1200. The ruin was excavated in 1895 and studied archaeologically in 1982-83.
